Resort fees are often taxed at the going hotel-room rate of nearly 14%, so there’s usually an additional charge on top of the resort fee. They're ostensibly charged to cover access to specified facilities and services. Instead, the fees are added to the rate per day and paid at checkout. Resort fees are supplemental daily charges tacked onto room rates, but often not included in the quoted or advertised charge for the room.
